I conduct research at the intersection of innovation, digital transformation, and data science to inform evidence-based decision-making. My work at CeSTII also involves active participation in African STI policy networks and leading initiatives that advance digital transformation and data-driven research across the continent.
How I Got Here
My journey began with a strong foundation in computer science, which I built upon with advanced degrees in Information Systems. Over the past decade, I have transitioned from software development and systems implementation to becoming a Senior Research Specialist and Data Scientist. My career has been defined by my dedication to understanding and solving complex challenges through research, data science, and innovation, particularly in the context of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policy in South Africa.
As a Senior Research Specialist at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), I have led national research projects focused on measuring innovation in key economic sectors, including the agricultural sector. My work has provided critical insights that have influenced policy-making at the national level, helping to modernise South Africa's agricultural sector through innovation. My contributions have also extended to developing and managing digitalisation projects, such as the CeSTII data request management system.
